Hope everyone had a great weekend!! I cannot believe summer is already here. I don’t know about you guys…but I am realizing that all day…everyday with my 7, 5 and 2 1/2 year old is going to be exhausting. Keeping them busy is a must…..too much time without activities and they start basically trying to do anything to irritate each other. In personal news, things are moving in the right direction, although I am realizing the summer is going to be a hard time to have any “me” time….but I am moving in the right direction.
On to something totally unrelated, but way more fun….I love going to Ikea to get ideas and of course I never leave empty handed. I had noticed the Ikea Maskros Pendant several times. It was huge and only $90. However….it was BORING!!! I wanted something really funky.
I decided to buy the pendant anyway and started brainstorming the internet for a good hack. I found one on Little Green Notebook….one of my all time favorite blogs. You can see what she did here… http://littlegreennotebook.blogspot.com/2011/05/diy-sputnik-chandelier.html Like Jenny from LGN….I LOVE the Sputnik lights. However at sometimes thousands of dollars…way out of my price range.
SO…using her tips and then tweeking it into my own version…..I painstakingly painting each and every flower gold. I trimmed SOME of them to different lengths. I also painted the cord and the base of the light. After everything was dry….I put it all back together. I have to say I LOVE it. I love how the light reflects off of the walls and makes such a fun pattern at night. It is soft and romantic…..and who doesn’t need more romance in their life…..
