Sunburst mirrors are all over right now. You can find them online for hundreds of dollars at pretty much any big home store. They are a fun piece of art and can fill a big space. The problem is that most of them are really expensive. As usual….I was searching for something I could make. I always go to the internet for inspiration and if you google DIY sunburst mirror…prepare yourself. There are a ton of those mothers out there. I found one that I LOVED over at House of Fifty . (if you have not checked out this blog….you should…..Janelle is awesome.)
1. Bamboo sticks…I ordered these online and cannot for the life of me remember where….sorry. I am sure they are easy to find.
2. Small Round mirror. I got mine at Michaels…our local craft place. It was about $4.00
3. Spray paint- I chose a glossy white.
4. Glue gun…and a high pain tolerance for getting burned…
TOTAL COST: Approx. $15.00 ( yes….you read that right)….
So…..after collecting all of your supplies…. get going. It is an easy project. Cut your bamboo sticks into different lengths. Then lay out around your mirror in the pattern of your choice and start gluing those mothers down. This is where the pain begins…..prepare your fingers to be tortured, because man that glue burns baby. Once you have everything glued……tape up your mirror and paint. I love the way this mirror turned out and it is huge!! It is perfect for our big wall in the dining room.
