I am OBSESSED with Mid Century Furniture. I have several pieces in my home and I am constantly searching Craigslist or vintage shops for pieces. They are built so solid and I love the clean, modern lines of this time period.
I found this chair on Craigslist for about $75. When I got it….it was in pretty bad shape. It did not even have actual seat cushions. It needed a little TLC, but for $75….I could not pass it up. (Sorry for the crappy I-phone picture).
To get this chair back into shape….I followed these steps….
1. First I cleaned the entire piece with Murphys Oil Orange Cleaner
2. After the piece is dry I give it a good rub with Watko Teak Oil…..it is amazing the difference this stuff makes
3. Finally once the oil is dry….I rubbed on Howards Feed and Wax
It is amazing how much these three products bring wood back to life.
After the wood was in good shape…it was time to deal with the cushions. For this project I bought premade seat cushions from an online store. So sorry but for the life of me I cannot remember where.
Then I purchased fabric from Fabric.com and my sweet mother in law sewed them for me. If you have never been to fabric.com…..I recommend it. There are great deals and free shipping a lot. I have ordered tons of fabric from them and have always been pleased with how fast I have received it and how generous the cuts they give you are. I highly recommend.
And an after Shot:
